The 1st annual Bemidji Blue Ox Marathon weekend kicks off on Friday October 11, 2013 at the Sanford Center in Bemidji, Minnesota with a 5k run/walk, kids' race, and expo free to the public. Half marathon and full marathon on Saturday October 12.
This race will be on one of the most beautiful courses anywhere during the fall colors. Come see what “Minnesota Nice” means in the heart of Northern Minnesota as this fast, all-paved, marathon takes you on a tour of the First City on the Mississippi River. The full marathon crosses the Mississippi River four times in three different spots while encircling the quiet waters of Lake Irving and the fishing hot-spots of Lake Bemidji. Starting and finishing at the Sanford Center, the marathon takes you through the parks of Bemidji, down one of the nation’s "Top Ten rail-to-trail conversions," the Paul Bunyan State Trail, through the campus of Bemidji State University, and past what WCCO viewers call, “Minnesota’s Best Roadside Attraction" the legendary Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. The Bemidji Blue Ox Marathon will be as grand as the legendary Blue Ox itself. |
