In October 2013 nearly one-thousand runners and walkers took part in the Inaugural Bemidji Blue Ox Marathon weekend of events. That was the start of something we hope will be part of Bemidji and Northern Minnesota for years to come.
In this, the second year, we are changing the course for the Full Marathon and Half Marathon to make for more scenic and safer race for all runners and spectators. We are also adding another event that we hope will make for an even greater experience. This year we invite you to TAKE THE LAKE in our PAUL BUNYAN sized 26K; a course making a complete loop around Lake Bemidji!
All Saturday races will finish at the Sanford Center. The Full Marathon and the 26K will start at the Sanford Center, while the Half Marathon will have a starting line approximately 3 miles up the trail. Half Marathoners will be able to take buses from the Sanford Center to the starting line. Additional information regarding the Half Marathon and the buses is available under Runner/Event Information. If you are running in the full marathon and are interested in using a pacer, this year we are teaming up with MN Pacers to better the experience for everyone.
On Friday there will be a Fun Run for the kids and a 5K Run/Walk for participants of all ages and abilities. The Kids Runs will take park at the Sanford Center and will consist of a 1/2K and a 1K event. The 5K will start and finish at the Sanford Center. Runners/Walker will head along the south shore of Lake Bemidji, turning around at Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.
We hope you are ready to - TAKE THE LAKE in 2014!
